In the mood for a laugh? We reckon so! For today's #LockdownSchlockdown we're raiding our '90s DTV comedy vault (straight to tape in the UK after a belly-flop at the US box office) with the decidedly old school Arthur Hiller flick, CARPOOL. Hiller, of course was Hollywood royalty, directing such laugh-generating gems as THE OUT OF TOWNERS, SILVER STREAK and THE IN-LAWS. By '96 at the grand age of 73, you could say he was in the twilight of his career, especially with the, erm, ‘memorable’ car crash AN ALAN SMITHEE FILM: BURN HOLLYWOOD BURN arriving the following year. We’re shocked and saddened to learn of Re-Animator (1985) maestro Stuart Gordon’s passing at the age of 72. A formative influence on both of our cinematic tastes, Dave and I would like to extend our condolences to Mr. Gordon’s family, friends, and colleagues during this time. For us fans, we can be thankful that Gordon leaves behind an important and remarkable legacy that we can savour and study for decades to come, Schlock & Awe-affiliated favourites From Beyond (1986), Fortress (1992), Castle Freak (1995), Dagon (2001), and King of the Ants (2003) among them.
