Produced by Charles Band! Directed by Jim Wynorski! Matty reached out to Full Moon scribe Kent Roudebush for the dirt on an incoming pairing for the ages.
“I honestly don’t know what mountain these legendary titans banded together on after all these years, but I’m glad they did,” says Kent Roudebush. “It’s amazing that they never did anything together until now. Charlie and Jim have their long histories and their careers have danced around one another’s. But both are excited to work with each other, I do know that. And that’s all I really need to know.”
Indeed, ‘excited’ seems to be the operative word. The prolific Roudebush, for instance, can barely contain his enthusiasm for the incoming ATTACK OF THE 50FT CAMGIRL: his latest Full Moon scripting assignment, and a project that’s finally united the inimitable talents of Charles Band and Jim Wynorski. During our quick Q&A, Roudebush’s voice rattles down the phone line and his fervour is infectious. But why wouldn’t it be? The creators of Trancers (1984), Ghoulies (1985), Chopping Mall (1986), and Sorceress (1995) together at last? On a sexy sci-fi comedy, no less? Hot damn! It’s a marriage born in B-movie heaven. And if you aren’t down with it, dear reader, you’re either on the wrong site or completely dead inside.

The Schlock Pit: So how’d you get involved with Camgirl, Kent?
Kent Roudebush: I first got a call from Charlie saying that he gave Jim my number and to expect a call. Jim has his writers he likes to work with, but Charlie said to give me a shot. He said I knew how to write these types of things and was the best at it, which was very nice of him. A few minutes later, I was talking with Jim. Again, it was exciting as I’ve been a fan of his for ages. I’d never met him, but had many friends in common. It was a very nice conversation and I guess I didn’t muff it up too bad because I started writing the script the next day.
SP: At the risk of sounding silly, what’s the film about? I’m guessing it’s pretty self-explanatory considering the title – which, by the way, I’ve noticed is “50FT” on your script but “60FT” when Wynorski has mentioned it on social media.
KR: Our lady is a stunning fifty feet, not a whopping sixty footer. Those extra ten feet aren’t in the budget [laughs]. The title has been a bear for me from the start. Is it ‘50 Foot’? ‘50FT’? ‘Camgirl’? Or ‘Cam-Girl’? I still don’t know. But if internet girls can’t come to an agreement on it, how can I or anybody else? Jim really loves the original Attack of the 50 Foot Woman (1958) and didn’t want to stray too far from that, aside from the alien thing. So I didn’t. I just updated. In this, we follow a very Kardashian-type of Instagram influencer always after the next ‘like’ or ‘heart’ because her revenue and self-worth depend on them. And her philandering douchebag of a husband who can’t stand her, but loves the money she brings in. Her next big stunt becomes a huge problem as a consequence, and the tables turn on their roles in the relationship.
SP: Other than 50 Foot Woman, were there any other particular influences on your approach to the material?
KR: I added in a bit of my personal favourite, Bert I Gordon’s Village of the Giants (1965). But aside from that and 50 Foot Woman, a couple of friends were always in the back of my mind while writing. People who are always staring at their phone, guys who don’t have a pot to piss in because they give all of their pay cheque to OnlyFans models or buy them something from their Amazon Wishlist as if they’re part of their lives. You know, those knuckleheads. What has always struck me about the relationship between a horny fan and a model is that there’s always somebody holding the camera, right? It’s usually a boyfriend. So that guy is going out to dinner and living in a nicer place than you because you funded it.
Another big influence is Jim himself. His one note before I started writing was, “Everybody takes a shower”!
SP: Tell me about the cast. Who’s in this thing?
KR: A new actress named Ivy Smith [pictured above] has been cast as Beverly, our eponymous camgirl. She seems like a great choice. Her career is already starting out huge. And we’ve also got Wynorski staples like the lovely Christine Nguyen, Lauren Parkinson, Lisa London, Frankie Cullen, and Mike Gaglio all in there as well.
SP: So when’s Attack of the 50FT Camgirl going before cameras now? I understand shooting has been delayed a little because of a COVID scare.
KR: Yeah, the first day of shooting was meant to be 6th January but, as you say, there was a COVID scare. I don’t know who or what, but production did the right thing and shut down for the time being. I believe they will start again in the next couple weeks, assuming everything is okay and that the cast and crew are healthy.
SP: Speaking of which, what’s it like in the Full Moon camp in this new post-COVID world? How’re you guys coping with what I figure are massive, work-altering changes?
KR: Just like with every other type of business in the world the past couple of years, COVID has been a real dick. It’s extremely difficult and costly. COVID officers must be on set and check the entire cast and crew constantly. It’s incredibly time consuming and expensive. But it has to be done. Full Moon casts and crews are generally small compared to other productions, but they still take all the precautions. The crew is cut to the bare minimum and spread out. Charlie did the three Barbie & Kendra movies with a total of five or six people, including the cast, and he directed from outside the set. COVID has just forced people to be more careful, but also more resourceful. I don’t see it ending anytime soon.
SP: Just before we wrap, is there anything else you want to add? Any additional goss from Camgirl’s making so far or any upcoming projects you want to draw attention to?
KR: No gossip so far! I’m sure the set will be as fun and laid back as any other Full Moon movie is. And some actor will get upset about hair curlers or something…
As for me, Charlie has so many projects he wants to do this year to fill his streaming site, www.fullmoonfeatures.com, I’m sure I’ll get a call for at least one of them. But nothing yet. Stay tuned, though. I’m a bad penny.

Yeah gotta say that Ivy Smith sure looks cool I heard a rumor that shes always wanted to star in a movie. The entirety of the cast are people we all know and love! A buffet of deliciousness and talent. Excellent chemistry between the cast mates with a crew that is absolutely expert. It’s such a dream team for director and producer. I bet this movie reaches heights of other B movies with a satisfied cult following. This thing just keeps growing and growing, much like the male audience members and our giantess character. Larger than life as the title implies and an current buzz worthy take on these social media millennials, and I bet it gets pretty steamy.
